Everyone is looking for effective ways to save money, and I’m not talking about clipping coupons or giving up your morning coffee. Most of us still want to partake in the finer things we enjoy such as hobbies, sports and entertainment. Of course if we could save a few bucks on those activities but still garner the same enjoyment wouldn’t we all do it? I know I would, and that’s what I did with my guitar lessons.
I fired my private guitar teacher. It was just costing me too much money every week. The $20 bucks I paid him was better spent on other entertainment. Of course before I gave up my instructor I had another plan in the works. I had done some research online and found a great online guitar course for the same price as what I was paying my guitar teacher every week. So instead of paying $80-$100 each and every week I’d just be paying $20 every month and that’s it.
The course I found offered online lesson videos in a variety of genres from metal to country plus a bunch of beginner content, which is where I was at.
The first month or so was hard going because I didn’t take the time to do the lessons and practice as I did when I was taking my private lessons. I guess having that person to answer to each and every week if I didn’t have my skills up to snuff helped keep me inline. Once I realized it was up to me to police my own learning I started getting back on track and actually enjoyed it a lot more.
I was spending more time each day practicing and learning on the guitar and I was doing for less money then I had been spending not all that long ago.
Who thought that I could get cheap on guitar lessons and end up getting better instruction then before.
