Coat of paint

December 28, 2009

Now that Christmas is over and all our gifts have been given, I’m excited to show you guys what I gave to a good friend of mine. She loves decorating her home with old-fashioned and charming touches, and I thought of her immediately when I spotted this sturdy chair at the thrift store.

After some sanding, priming, and a couple coats of pretty paint, here is what I was able to give her.

A thrifted, inexpensive chair given new life with just a little time and effort–that’s my kind of Christmas.

She’s in my kitchen being used as I type! I love, love, love it and everyone that has entered my home over the holidays has taken note and gushed over her!

Great gift – I never thought of giving a chair! I LOVE the blue – perfect choice for a colour.

How long did it take you to do the work on it? I’m curious, as I have a couple of old salvaged pieces I’d like to refreshify (ya, my word :) .

Not very long actually–I wasn’t going for a smooth, perfect look, so I only spent a couple minutes roughing it up with sandpaper. I used Valspar spray paint for the color and it coated beautifully and quickly.
